Light off in the Olympic location of 1994

Satisfied, Karl Geiger showed the upscale thumbs into the camera after the first podium in this year’s RAW-AIR series. In the fight for the yellow jersey for the World Cup best of winter, it was not a particularly good day for the 29-year-old ski jumper, who landed as a daily twist just behind permanent Ryoyu Kobayashi from Japan.

“Of course, you’re already going there, but I can not influence the things. I did a good competition. I lost in the overall World Cup, but I can never accuse me of nothing,” Geiger said on Thursday in Lillehammer. A short-term power failure had made small delays in the Olympic location of 1994, but it continued rapidly after remedying the problem.

Jumps to 135 and 134.5 meters had gooders in three gorge three, but were not against Austria’s Day winner Stefan Kraft and the Japanese Kobayashi, which is now 63 meters in front of the Allgäu and so takes place on the triumph in the overall World Cup. Geiger was still perfect mood. “It was consistently positive. It was a clear increase. Both jumps were good. A bit of air is still there, but I’m very happy with the day,” said the team world champion in ZDF. National coach Stefan Horngacher called the jumps of his top athlete “not perfect, but good”.

Behind Geiger also made Markus Eisenbichler (6th), Constantin Schmid (12th), Severin Friend (18th) and Stephan Leyhe (26th) in the second round. A break is no longer available for the plane in the final spurt of the winter, not even after the beking winter games. Immediately after jumping from Lillehammer was packed because from Friday three more competitions on Holmenkollen in Oslo.

There, first of all Andreas Wellinger has to increase. The 2018 Olympic champion excreted in the World Cup in the first round. The 26-year-old Wellinger did not come beyond 118.5 meters and landed on the 41st place. “It’s just somehow upper body, pulling arms and then put on the ski,” Wellinger commented. “I know that I can ski jumping much better. I have not brought together yesterday and today.”

Wellinger was positively tested for the coronavirus in Beijing shortly before winter games and subsequently has not been nominated for competitions in China. Now Wellinger replaces the shaped Pius Pashke in Norway. In Oslo he wants to prove that this exchange is right.
