BVB clears the future of Matthias Sammer: “We are not in the end with our task”
Borussia Dortmund has prematurely extended cooperation with Matthias Sammer until June 30, 2025. The BVB announced on Monday afternoon.
“I am always very happy about it, in many topics, which incidentally not only involve the professional sector, to be able to use the expertise of Matthias Sammer,” said Managing Director Hans-Joachim Watzke.
Sammer has been an external consultant for the board of BVB since 2018, which also belongs to Watzke. He recognized as a “renowned football expert who” to consider his “BVB from different angles,” it said in the press release of the Revierklub.

Three German championships with the BVB
Sammer had won with the BVB as a player and later coach a total of three German championships as well as the Champions League and the World Cup in 1997. From 2006 to 2012 he worked as a BVBs manager at the DFB, then for four years as a BVBs board of FC Bayern. His post there he acknowledged in the spring of 2016 after a slight stroke.
Sammer decided then to never work in the operating business and is only active in the background as well as a TV expert.
