First place for Essen: have a task to do now
The 3-0 victory at SV Rödingshausen lifted the team from Hafenstraße again in first place in the Regionalliga West, Essen is tied with Münster, but has a better goal difference. “I am incredibly proud of the team how they implemented what we set out to do,” said Jörn Nowak, after a turbulent week ended with an exit for RWE class.
The 1: 3 in the cup semi-final of the Lower Rhine Cup in Wuppertal was the separation from coach Christian Neidhart, two match days before the end of the season. “F sparkling new energy and thus winning the remaining two games,” said the red -whites’ agenda – the beginning was achieved in Lotte.
“We got into the duels well, got standards out,” said Nowak. And two of them led to the first two goals. After a corner in the 13th minute, Oguzhan Kefkir was on hand, Simon Engelmann also after a corner kick in the 27th minute with his 23rd goal. “We trained standards in training. I am all the more pleased that we score two goals,” said Nowak, the sports director, with U-19 coach Vincent Wagner, has the sporting command until the end of the season.
“It will be a spectacle”
“Again: I am very proud that we have delivered such a game against a top opponent who is one of the best teams in the league,” said Nowak, who now goes from pole position into the last match day. Münster receives 1. FC Cologne II (6th place), Essen has red white Ahlen (9th place) in front of the chest. “We now have a task against Ahlen,” said Nowak. A win and only one goal less than the Prussians in the remote duel, then RWE would be a third division team. “It will be a spectacle,” said Rödinghausen coach Carsten Rump.
