FSV Frankfurt and SV Elversberg apparently ensure a new edition of the Gijon shame
In the Regionalliga Südwest, a non –aggression pact apparently played between FSV Frankfurt and SV Elversberg, which strongly reminded of the “Shame of Gijon”. This emerges from a twitter post of the FSV.
Since both teams had a tie to the direct uptake and non-relegation, Elversberg let the ball run in their own ranks in the meantime at 1-1. The Saarlanders apparently made no move to play the leather forward.
The game ultimately also ended 1: 1, which played both teams in the cards. On the last matchday, Elversberg and Frankfurt can only theoretically be displaced by their ascent or non-relegation places.
SSV Ulm and Sonnenhof Großaspach are suffering, which ironically also played directly against each other in parallel (1: 3). The Ulm would now have to catch up with a 19-goal deficit on the last match day, Großaspach is facing a similarly difficult task with 14 goals behind.
A similar event occurred at the 1982 World Cup in Spain. The German national team and Austria, known as the “Shame of Gijon”, agreed on a narrow 1-0 win of the FRG on the lawn. Due to the result, both teams ultimately moved into the intermediate round.
