When and where does the ice hockey World Cup take place?

The ice hockey World Cup will take place in Finland from May 13th to 29th. The game is played in Helsinki (Helsinki Ice Rink, 8,200 spectators) and Tampere (Nokia Arena, 13,500 spectators). Finland organizes the World Cup for the ninth time, most recently in 2013 – because together with Sweden.

How is the tournament mode?

At the ice hockey World Cup, the 16 participants are divided into two groups with eight teams each. Each team meets the other seven teams in the group between May 13 and 24. The two group lasts are determined as relegation. The four teams with the most points of a group each reach the quarter-finals, where it continues in the knockout mode.

The first of Group A meets the fourth of Group B, the second of Group A on the third of Group B, the third of Group A to the second of Group B and the fourth of Group A on the winner of Group B. ES Give a game for third place, which, like the final on May 29, will take place in Tampere.

Sport 1 shows all 64 games on its platforms. There are more than 30 games of it on free TV, including all games of the German national ice hockey team and all games of the K.-O. round. The rest can be seen on the Pay TV station Sport1+. In the live stream there are games in the free livestream on Sport1.de. “Magenta Sport” broadcasts all games of the German team and all the K.-O. duelle in the livestream.
