FC Liverpool: Jürgen Klopp celebrates the last outstanding title with FA Cup

Klopp wins again, Tuchel loses again: FC Liverpool is getting the second title of the season – on a historical day for his team manager.

The King of Liverpool was the first to congratulate Prince William. In its function as President of the English Football Association Thomas Tuchel, the Duke of Cambridge had just awarded a few words from the consolation, when Jürgen Klopp’s broadly grinning was already in front of him. The British heir to the throne handed him the gold medal for the triumph in the FA Cup – the German then fell up the cup.

It was a historic evening in Wembley, where 84,897 spectators experienced the first victory of a German team manager in the oldest football competition in the world. This triumph is “massive”, so huge, said Klopp.

Like the Ligapokal final in February between Liverpool FC and FC Chelsea, the 150th final around the FA Cup without a goal in a penalty thriller-at that time the Reds won 11:10, this time 6: 5.

Klopp’s outbursts of emotions after the decisive goal of his “mentality monster” through Konstantino’s Tsimika’s spoke volumes: blissfully he ran after his players on the lawn, he danced in front of the stands, threw the audience to kisses. “It was,” he said later, “an incredible, an intensive game”. Chelsea, he added, “it would have deservedly deserved, but in the end there could only be one winner”.

FC Liverpool: Jürgen Klopp dreams of the quadruple

Won the league cup, won the FA Cup – and now? Klopp even dared to talk about the unique quadruple triumph this season in the exuberance of the feelings. “The quadruple – it is outstanding that we can talk about it, it’s crazy,” he said, but: “It will be incredibly difficult. It is possible if you will, but somehow not.” Somehow not because the championship seems out of reach.

On May 28th, FC Liverpool in Paris will play against Real Madrid for the title in the Champions League. First of all, the Reds have to go to FC Southampton on Tuesday, and what Klopp is probably more concerned with, is the condition of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk. Both had to go off the field early on Saturday – at least their commitment in the final class final does not seem to be at risk.

The victory in the FA Cup counts a lot in England, and Klopp was not tired of mentioning how much his team had invested to bring him to Liverpool for the first time and for the first time since 2006.

“You saw the performance of the players how much that means. It was the 60th game of a very intensive season, and then to perform such a performance is absolutely incredible,” emphasized the German coach.

For Chelsea it was the third defeat in a row in the FA Cup final, last year the blues lost to Leicester City. Tuchel admitted that it would not be easy to rebuild the team for the last two games of the season, but also emphasized: “The season is not yet over. We still have goals in the Premier League.” At least participation in the Champions League is within reach.
